Separate incidents injure several people in Tripoli

Unknown assailants opened fire Saturday night at two citizens from the Shiite sect in the northern city of Tripoli, hitting them in the legs.

The injured were taken to the city’s al-Salam Hospital, while the security forces rushed to the scene and launched an investigation in the incident.

Sources reported that the condition of one of the injured is critical.

In this context, caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati called on caretaker Interior Minister Marwan Charbel to tighten the necessary security measures in order to arrest the perpetrators and refer them to the concerned judiciary.

On another note, three people were injured when unknown assailants driving a “Kia” vehicle threw three grenades in Ibn Sina street in Tripoli.

Sources said that the driver of the Kia is a citizen known as “Abou Ras”, adding that the security forces are pursuing him.
