Ephrem to LBCI: Nuns of Maaloula Monastery are kidnapped

The president of the Syriac League in Lebanon Habib Ephrem stressed Thursday that the abduction of the Middles East’s Christians is a planned persecution against them, noting that the Christians are being directly targeted despite keeping themselves away from the war and disputes in Syria.

In a statement to LBCI’s Nharkom Said, Ephrem noted that some groups are purposely harming the Christians, in an attempt to eliminate them from the Middle East.

In this regard, he pointed out that there is no progress or news concerning the two abducted Syrian bishops, rejecting reports saying that the nuns of Maaloula Monastery were transported to another location.

“The nuns have been kidnapped and we do not accept our intelligence to be undermined,” he said.
