Judge Ibrahim opens investigation into Al-Jadeed TV lawsuit against Lebanese customs

Financial General Prosecutor Judge Ali Ibrahim launched on Friday an investigation into the customs file.

Judge Ibrahim listened to journalists Riyad Qobeissi 's testimony concerning the Al-Jadeed TV episode broadcasted last Tuesday.

On Tuesday November 26, 2013, Al-Jadeed television’s “Tahet Taelat al-Masouliya” crew was beaten outside the Customs headquarters in Downtown Beirut, over an episode on the “corruption at the Lebanese Customs.”

Consequently, crew members Riyad Qobeissi, Adeeb Farhat, Ali Shreim and Ali Khalifeh were arrested by Customs members and referred to the public prosecution then were released around 9 pm.

Meanwhile, a number of journalists gathered near the Customs headquarters calling for the swift release of the four men while acting General Prosecutor Judge Hammoud said that the detainees will be freed as soon as the coroner issues a report.
