The municipality of the northern city of Tripoli evacuated a 9 floor-building including two built illegally on Friday in Abi Samra near Khadija mosque after cracks were found.
Head of municipality Nader Ghazal said that he issued a warning to the owner of the building noting that it cannot bear the weight of additional floors but he did not cooperate which lead him to order evacuation in order to preserve the file of seven families.
“I am in contact with caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati and the High Relief Commission to ensure the tenants temporary shelter”, he said.
In this context, Internal Security Forces proceeded with blocking the road leading to the collapse-threatened building and evacuating its close surroundings.
