MP Jumblatt defends Fairuz, says singer is greater than criticism

Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblatt said on Friday that Fairuz is and will remain a symbol of Lebanon's national heritage.

"She who sang for Palestine and Jerusalem also sang for Syria before the onset of violence," he said.

"Fairuz is greater than criticism and larger than being associated with any political party because the refined art she presented maintains her as a beacon of light in the east and dubs her larger than political wranglings," he said in his statement.
