STL issues requirements for media accreditation for start of trial

                        
In a statement issued by the Trial Chamber of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon, the STL announced that it has scheduled the start of trial in the case of Ayyash et al. for Thursday 16 January 2014.The trial will commence at 9:30 AM (CET) with opening statements by the Prosecutor, the Legal Representatives of the Victims participating in the proceedings, as well as opening statements, if any, for the Defense. Opening statements are expected to last for a few days.           

Accreditation is required for all members of the media who wish to enter the Tribunal building and hence the STL has requested that all media persons fill out the accreditation form online no later than 10 January 2014 at 12 PM (CET) to indicate which day(s) of trial they would like to attend.                  
            
Accredited media representatives must use the public entrance to the Special Tribunal for Lebanon located on Dokter van der Stamstraat 1 in Leidschendam, and should arrive no later than 45 minutes before the start of a hearing.         

The opening statements will be held in open session and can be followed live on the STL website, at the external Satellite News Gathering (SNG) point, and in the Tribunal's Media Centre. The hearing can be followed in English, French and Arabic.               

Audio and video recording and the taking of photographs is strictly prohibited within the premises of the STL. Only officially accredited members of the press and media are permitted to use recording devices within designated areas; namely in the STL’s Media Center, the statement said.
