Jabal Mohsen resident shot in leg in Tripoli’s Bab al-Hadid

Shots were fired on Monday at a Lebanese citizen who hails from Tripoli’s Jabal Mohsen.

Alawite resident, Youssef Khalil, was injured in the leg in the region of Bab al-Hadid located in the northern city of Tripoli.

Attacks against Alawites from Jabbal Mohsen are ongoing and come as a result of the tensions in the city tied to the conflict in neighboring Syria.

Disputes from neighboring Syria's civil war frequently inflame sectarian grievances in Tripoli. These clashes pit gunmen from both the mostly Sunni Bab Tabbaneh district and the Jabal Mohsen district which mostly comprises residents of Syrian President Bashar Assad's Alawite sect, a Shiite Islam offshoot.
