Rifi: Hezbollah hinders efforts to form upcoming cabinet

Former Internal Security Forces chief Ashraf Rifi accused on Saturday Hezbollah of hindering efforts to form a cabinet.

Rifi said in a statement that “Hezbollah has become addicted to hindering the functioning of the state as it seeks to turn the Interior Ministry portfolio into an obstacle in forming a government.”

“I will not be part of the problem facing the formation of the cabinet, but we are part of the solution sought by former Prime Minister Saad Hariri,” Rifi added.

March 14 alliance's support Rifi to assume the Interior Ministry portfolio in the new cabinet which was seen as an obstacle in the government formation process.

March 8 camp rejected his nomination amid reports stating that Future MP Nohad al-Machnouk has been proposed to replace him.
