Change and Reform Bloc hails all initiatives that aim to support Lebanese army

Education Minister Elias Bou Saab said on Tuesday consultations with the Future Bloc were made only after the situation in Lebanon reached a dead end.

Following the Change and Reform Bloc’s weekly meeting, Minister Bou Saab said the agreement reached during the first ministerial session over confronting terrorism in Lebanon was remarkable, adding that all ministers expressed their support to any initiative that aims to support the Lebanese Army.

The first cabinet session was held on Tuesday at the Baabda Presidential Palace under the chairmanship of President Michel Sleiman and upon the invitation of Prime Minister Tammam Salam.

During the session, the committee tasked with drafting the ministerial statement was formed.

Lebanon announced on February 15 the formation of a new government after more than 10 months of political deadlock.

Following the announcement of the new cabinet, Prime Minister Tammam Salam stressed the importance of creating a positive atmosphere to resume national dialogue in order to resolve all pending issues under the auspices of President Michel Sleiman.
