US Ambassador Hale meets FM Bassil, condemns Bir Hassan explosion

US Ambassador to Lebanon David Hale condemned on Wednesday the terrorist explosion that rocked South Beirut's Bir Hassan region, calling for a political solution to end the Syrian crisis which has so far had a severe impact on Lebanon.

"We are ready to work with the government of Prime Minister Tammam Salam in order to address several challenges," Hale said.

The Ambassador also met with Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil with talks featuring high on peace negotiations taking place in the Middle East in order to reach a long-term solution.

Hale tackled with Bassil the Syrian crisis including burdens shouldered by Lebanon due to the rising influx of Syrian refugees.

The officials also discussed the progress achieved by the international community in finding a settlement to Iran's nuclear program.
