Sleiman meets Gemayel at Baabda Palace

Lebanese President Michel Sleiman met on Tuesday with Kataeb Party leader Amine Gemayel and a number of ministers and deputies holding the Baabda Presidential Palace.

Discussions are mainly focused on the Kataeb’s stance regarding the cabinet policy statement.

Following the meeting, Sleiman reiterated that the policy statement focused on the authority of the state in all political affairs, mainly the defense of Lebanon and the liberation of occupied Lebanese territories.”

He also noted that the statement comes “in harmony with the Baabda Declaration and the national defense strategy concerning the authority of the state.

On Saturday, the Kataeb party warned that the three ministers representing it in Salam's government will resign before a parliamentary vote of confidence if the policy statement wasn't amended.

The party showed reservations over the role of the Resistance and the right of all Lebanese citizens to resist the Israeli occupation.
