Charbel to LBCI: There are no Qaeda militants in Lebanon
Interior Minister Marwan Charbel told LBCI that the statement on the infiltration of al-Qaeda members from Lebanon into Syria is based on unofficial information, stressing that there are no Qaeda militants in Lebanon.

Charbel said that the information provided by Defense Minister Fayez Ghosn to the cabinet have an unidentified source, adding that he was surprised to see that Ghosn’s statement was linked to Damascus blasts.

After heading the Central Security Council’s meeting, Charbel said that the information on the infiltration of al-Qaeda militants into Syria is under follow-up to verify its authenticity.

On the other hand, Charbel discussed with the security forces a security plan for New Year’s Eve to maintain security in all Lebanese regions. He reassured the Lebanese citizens that the security situation is stable and that all necessary measures have been taken to prevent any security breach.
