Civil society groups organize sit-in over proportional representation electoral law

Civil society groups organized on Wednesday a sit-in in Riyad al-Soleh Square to demand approving a parliamentary electoral law based on proportional representation.

Every election held in Lebanon has been based on a winner-take-all system to much of the discontent of civil society activists.

Several Lebanese leaders and civil society groups have been staunch supporters of proportional representation, saying it ensures the best representation for the Lebanese in a bid to eliminate sectarianism in the country.
