Security forces arrest Roumieh inmate in Tripoli’s Al-Qobbe region

Internal Security Forces arrested on Thursday morning Syrian national Muhannad Abdel Rahman in Tripoli’s Al-Qobbe region.

On Monday the 24th of February, Muhannad Abdel Rahman, along with 2 other Lebanese inmates identified as Mohammad Al-Jouni, and Said Sabra escaped from the Roumieh prison.

Shortly after their escape, Lebanese Armed Forces were able to re-arrest Al-Jouni and Sabra, while the third inmate Abdel Rahman remained on the run until today.

It is worth noting that the inmates are accused of killing Lebanese Armed Forces officer, Rayan Al-Jurdi, during the robbery of BLOM Bank's Elissar branch in 2012.

Roumieh, the oldest and largest of Lebanon's overcrowded prisons, has witnessed sporadic prison breaks in recent years.
