Head of Liberal Democrats party says Geagea should withdraw his candidacy
Tracy Chamoun, head of the Liberal Democrats party, said Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea should withdraw from the presidential battle.

"Granting Geagea general amnesty does not wipe out crimes he had committed," she said following Wednesday's parliament session.

Chamoun also stressed that her party's candidate is Change and Reform bloc leader MP Michel Aoun, noting that her candidacy was of a symbolic value and directed against Geagea.

Tracy Chamoun is one of the two surviving children of Dany Chamoun (1934–1990), the former leader of the National Liberal Party, and the granddaughter of former President Camille Chamoun.

On the 21st of October 1990, Dany Chamoun, along with his German-born second wife Ingrid, and his two sons, Tarek and Julian, were assassinated.

Dany's rival Christian leader Samir Geagea head of the Lebanese Forces, was tried for the murder. He was sentenced to death, but the sentence was commuted to life imprisonment.

Geagea served 11 years in jail over his war crimes and assassinations. His sentence ended by a public amnesty, and he was released from prison on the 26 of July 2005.

Dany's first daughter, Tracy, considers Geagea to have murdered her father.
