Marouni from Ersal: Al-Qaeda is not present in this town
MP Elie Marouni paid a visit Sunday to Ersal, heading a delegation from the Lebanese Kataeb Party, in solidarity with its citizens.

Marouni described the town of Ersal as the base of heroism and courage, and a haven of men that have always rushed to the defense of Lebanon and its liberty from Israeli occupation.

He added that instead of launching accusations aiming at distorting its image, concern ought to be focused on ensuring developmental services to such an underprivileged town as Ersal.

Marouni went on to stress on avoiding interferences in Syria's affairs, adding that it is also not allowed for Syria to meddle into Lebanese affairs nor to violate the Lebanese borders. He also called, herein, for annulling the Lebanese-Syrian Higher Council.

Marouni highlighted the need to ensure developmental services to deprived towns and to preserve national unity. He categorically refused to consider the town of Ersal as being a base or passage way for terrorism. He also expressed surprise at the absence of Lebanese security forces at the borders, which are left unmonitored.

Marouni urged the Defense Minister to visit the region and have a closer look at said borders, which are left without any security presence to protect the people and Lebanon's sovereignty, which is the government's responsibility, he noted.
