Judge al-Zain issues arrest warrants against Naim Abbas after completing investigations in south Beirut attacks
Military Investigative Judge Imad al-Zain completed investigations in the explosion attacks that targeted the Beirut Southern Suburbs regions of Roueis and Bir al-Abed, after finalizing the interrogations with prime Abdullah Azzam Brigade official Naim Abbas.

Accordingly, Judge al-Zain issued arrests warrants against Abbas on charges of being involved in both attacks, as well as arrest warrants in absentia against four other suspects.

He referred the case to the military public prosecution to kick off legal measures.

Several arrest warrants were previously issued against Abbas on charges of belonging to an armed terrorist group seeking to carry out terrorist activities in Lebanon.

Palestinian national Naim Abbas dubbed "the most dangerous terrorist in the country" was arrested on the 12th of February by the Lebanese Armed Forces.

Preliminary information revealed that Abbas had been at the receiving end of a network smuggling booby trapped cars and explosive belts into Lebanon.

On July 9th 2013, a large explosion rocked Bir al-Abed region, a stronghold of the Hezbollah group south of the Lebanese capital, setting several cars on fire and causing an estimated 53 injuries.

Similarly, a month later, a powerful car bomb tore through the Beirut Southern Suburbs' region of Roueis, also stronghold of Hezbollah, claiming the lives of 27 civilians and leaving more than 289 wounded.
