Lebanon’s Interior Ministry urges Syrian refugees not to enter Syria as of Sunday

The Lebanese Interior Ministry on Saturday urged all the displaced Syrians and the ones registered at the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to abstain from entering Syria as of the 1st of June.

The ministry asked them to abide by this procedure or otherwise they will lose their status as refugees in Lebanon.

This procedure will be circulated by the General Directorate of General Security on all relevant centers along the Lebanese-Syrian border, the ministry said.

It added that this measure was undertaken to uphold security in Lebanon as well as the relation of Syrian refugees with Lebanese residents in areas hosting the displaced.

The Interior Ministry also asked the UN and civil society organizations which deal with the Syrian refugees to fully assume their responsibilities and to inform the displaced about the content of this statement.
