World Bank Chief: Aid granted to Lebanon and Jordan “disappointing”

World Bank Chief Jim Yong Kim declared Wednesday that the support that has been offered so far to Lebanon and Jordan in order to deal with the issue of the Syrian refugees is “disappointing,” urging the International Community to grant more aid.

Speaking from Amman, Kim said that this issue is an international matter and is not limited to the region of the Middle East, noting that “the time has come for the other states to assume their responsibilities and meet their promises.”

According to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), Lebanon hosts the largest number of Syrian refugees that reaches at least one million refugees; while Jordan hosts nearly 600 thousand registered refugees, other than the 700 thousand Syrian nationals who entered Jordan before March 2011, the outbreak of the Syrian revolution.
