Change and Reform bloc: Regional developments prove FPM stances aimed at protecting Lebanon
The Change and Reform bloc held on Tuesday its weekly meeting in which it declared that the region's latest developments prove that the Free Patriotic Movement's stances aimed at protecting Lebanon.

Following the meeting, MP Ibrahim Kanaan said on behalf of the bloc that FPM leader MP Michel Aoun warned in 2006 against the dangers of the Sunni-Shiite strife.

“Time after time the developments in the region prove that what we are carrying out is in Lebanon's interest,” he added.

Regarding the controversial new pay scale, Kanaan expressed that the bloc is not particularly “optimistic” in this regard, adding that the bloc is attempting to reduce misunderstandings between blocs and put all numbers in the hands of the Ministry of Finance.

The Union Coordinating Committee has been on a continuous sit-in calling on the authorities to pass the pay scale, which stipulates a wage hike.

The decision to revive movements came as a result of the failure of the Joint Parliamentary Committees to resolve the dispute on securing funds for the salary scale that was approved by former Prime Minister Najib Mikati's cabinet.
