PM Salam: Lebanese cabinet will carry out its duties

Prime Minister Tammam Salam delivered on Thursday a speech during the Arab Economic Forum in which he stated that the Gulf Cooperation Council countries never failed Lebanon and always supported the country's stability.

On another note, he called on rival political leaders to abandon their personal interests and place emphasis on national duties.

Salam stressed the keenness of the Lebanese leaders to elect a new head of state, adding that the Lebanese cabinet will carry out its duties according to the stipulations of the Lebanese Constitution.

Lebanon has been plunged into a presidential vacuum after Michel Sleiman's mandate ended on May 25 with rival political blocs still divided over a new leader.
