The Director General of the General Security, Major General Abbas Ibrahim, stressed on Friday that the Daher al-Baydar explosion took place meters away from his convoy as he was heading to the Bekaa.

"The war between the Lebanese security apparatuses and terrorists will not stop," Ibrahim confirmed in a phone call with LBCI.

In this regard, Ibrahim accused the Israeli Intelligence (Mossad) of carrying out the explosion since it leaked a document about an assassination attempt targeting him.

"Terrorism has many faces and Israel is one of them," he said.

Asked about raids carried out earlier on Friday in the region of Hamra, Ibrahim said this effort shows that the security forces are on high alert, adding that Lebanon will not become another Iraq.

A suicide bomber blew himself up at a security checkpoint in Lebanon's Daher al-Baydar in the Eastern Bekaa Valley on Friday, leaving 1 person killed, an ISF member, and up to 32 wounded, the health ministry said.

This comes as the Internal Security Forces received information on the presence of terrorist networks infiltrating the country namely for the possible assassination of Maj. Gen. Abbas Ibrahim. Ibrahim's convoy narrowly escaped the attack.
