While the Lebanese are waiting for the storm, that has just begun, it may seem that a storm of another kind promises to sweep the country. This storm is that of the wage issue. Following the seemingly positive atmosphere and after the Shura Council’s decision to approve the wage decree provided that its remarks be taken into account, the negotiations returned to square one. This relapse occurred during the index committee’s meeting on Wednesday at the Labor Ministry.

On the Syrian front, President Bashar Assad made a public appearance on Wednesday for the second time in less than 24 hours, not to deliver a second speech but to be seen amongst his supporters in Al Umawiyeen square.

However, the most prominent development for today was the death of French journalist Gilles Jacquier, one of France 2’s senior correspondents. Jacquier was killed by a shell that was dropped on a group of journalists in Homs.
