Geagea dubs disruption of presidential elections inexcusable
Lebanese Forces Chief Samir Geagea dubbed the continuous disruption of the country's presidential elections inexcusable, citing the March 8 forces lack of respect to the needs of the Lebanese people, to democracy and the nation as a whole as the main reason behind the stalemate.

In a press conference held at his residence in Maarab on Wednesday following the adjournment of the president election session, Geagea noted that hindering the electoral process has obstructed the work of the entire nation.

“The other party is suggesting the amendment of the constitution in light of void at the presidential level,” Geagea said in reference to the March 8 alliance.

In this regard, Geagea said that amendments should have been made before the end of former President Michel Sleiman’s mandate or following the election of a new president. Geagea also voiced his support for holding the parliamentary elections before the election of a new head of state.

On another note, Geagea stated that the situation in Gaza is unacceptable, stressing the need for the UN Security Council to intervene "when a certain group is trying to eliminate the other."

As for the incidents taking place in Iraq’s Mosul, Geagea mentioned that the measures implemented by Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant fighters and their actions in the said country harm Islam, calling on concerned regional parties to intervene in order to put an end to the Islamic State's actions in Iraq.
