Speaker Berri: Palestinian national unity is "the sharpest weapon in the face of Israel's barbarism"

Speaker Nabih Berri dubbed on Wednesday the Palestinian cause "the prime cause of all Arabs," urging the International Red Cross to step up its efforts and to enter the destroyed cities in the Gaza Strip to help civilians.

Berri's comments came following a meeting with the representatives of the Palestinian forces and factions whereby he hailed the "steadfastness" of the Palestinian people.

He also noted that Palestinian national unity is "the sharpest weapon in the face of Israel's barbarism."

Berri concluded by hailing the decision of the Lebanese parliament to hold a parliamentary session to discuss the situation in the Gaza Strip, adding that the Palestinian cause unifies both the March 14 and March 8 camps.

More than 650 Palestinians have been killed and more than 3,600 injured since Israel launched a fierce offensive on the Gaza Strip 16 days ago.
