MP Alain Aoun to LBCI: Christians must remain the main decision-makers in Lebanon
MP Alain Aoun said on Saturday the tough phase that the region is passing through requires the awareness of all political parties, adding that Lebanon is becoming the last resort for the Christians in the Middle East region.

Hundreds of Christian families fled their homes in Iraq's Mosul after Islamic State militants have told Christians to either convert to Islam, pay a religious levy or face death.

Aoun's comments were made during an interview with Nharkom Said TV show in which he noted that the Christians in Lebanon must remain the main decision-makers in the country.

Aoun also noted that some political sides are not deploying efforts to reach a common ground over the presidential elections.

Lebanon has plunged into presidential vacuum following the end of former President Michel Sleiman's mandate on May 25.

Nine electoral sessions were held, but parliament has failed so far to elect a new head of state due to lack of quorum.
