Rai: Some countries are backing fundamentalist movements to achieve terrorist goals
Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Beshara Boutros Rai voiced his regret on Sunday that some countries are backing fundamentalist movements and organizations to achieve terrorist and political goals.

“March 14 forces do not want a president from the March 8 camp, and vice versa,” Rai said in his holy sermon during Sunday's mass in Diman, stressing the necessity of electing a president who serves the entire Lebanese nation.

Lebanon has plunged into presidential vacuum following the end of former President Michel Sleiman's mandate on May 25.

Nine electoral sessions were held, but parliament has failed so far to elect a new head of state due to lack of quorum.
