985 persons of different nationalities arrested last July -Army Command

The Lebanese Army Command said on Thursday that military units arrested 985 persons of different nationalities last July.

Some of the detainees are involved in opening fire, attacking citizens and committing terrorist crimes, the Army Command said, noting that charges include drug trafficking and smuggling as well as the possession of weapons.

Others were arrested for committing offenses, the military said, pointing out that some were held for residing in Lebanon without legal permits or driving vehicles and motorbikes without identification papers.

"140 vehicles and 96 motorbikes were seized in addition to loads of weapons, ammunition, military assets and drugs," the army added.
