Sleiman meets with Gemayel, calls for swift solution for presidential impasse
Former President Michel Sleiman stressed Thursday the need to hold the parliamentary elections on time, adding that any new or amended electoral law must include an item compelling the deputies to attend the parliamentary session dedicated to elect a new president.

Following his meeting with the head of the Kataeb party Amin Gemayel, Sleiman noted that they reached an agreement over cooperating in order to find a solution for the current political impasse, regarding the presidential elections.

On the security issue, Sleiman stressed the importance of the political and financial support for the Lebanese Armed Forces, noting that the financial support has been granted by Saudi Arabia and the United States.

On another note, Sleiman discussed with Gemayel the situation of the students in light of the UCC crisis, stating that their future must not be linked to the demands of the civil servants, urging the cabinet and the union committees to resolve their issues in order to save the future of the students.
