Lebanon's cabinet signs decree calling on electoral bodies to hold the parliamentary elections
Lebanon's cabinet signed on Tuesday the decree which calls on electoral bodies to hold the upcoming parliamentary elections.

The decree was not on the agenda of the cabinet that convened at the Grand Serail under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Tammam Salam.

Ahead of the session, Education Minister Elias Bou Saab said the cabinet will tackle the possibility of granting licenses to six new universities that meet the legal requirements.

But later on, sources told LBCI that the cabinet refused to grant licenses to 6 new universities and faculties.

In turn, Justice Minister Ashraf Rifi also said that the ministers will discuss the extension of the Sukleen company's contract.

For his part, Agriculture Minister Akram Chehayyeb said a one-year extension for Sukleen has been proposed.
