LBCI crew enters Msaytbeh region after decision to evacuate buildings
The Sayyed complex composed of three adjacent buildings located in the region of Msaytbeh has been suffering from cracks for years at a time when the landlord committee wrote to the High Commission for Relief and Beirut’s municipality to find a solution to this dangerous problem.

As years went by with no answers, the cabinet issued on Tuesday morning a decision calling on all citizens to evacuate these buildings that they considered as “uninhabitable”. The High Commission for Relief will provide the complex’s residents with alternative accommodation until the end of the restoration works that will be carried out by the Commission. Yet, the residents of these buildings were not informed of this decision and had to know from the LBCI crew who headed to the region to follow up on an evacuation process that did not happen.

LBCI’s cameras not only took images of cracks from the outside, but went into the apartments and offices where images are the best proof of the building’s deteriorating condition.

It is noteworthy that the Sayyed complex is only a sample that exists in many regions; in fact, the Maronite project in Blaybel is no better asthe owners of the projects called on the citizens to evacuate the buildings; yet they hung on to their homes.
