Speaker Berri marks 36th anniversary of Moussa Sadr's disappearance
Speaker Nabih Berri said on Sunday that Lebanon's presidential entitlement will remain a priority, stressing the need to elect a new head of state.

"What is happening in Iraq, Syria and Yemen is a matter of concern for Lebanon," Berri said during a speech marking the 36th anniversary of Imam Moussa al-Sadr's disappearance.

Speaker Berri also said he supports the decisions that were taken by the patriarchs of the East in Bkerke as well as their call to address extremism.

"Reaching an agreement over the defense strategy has become an urgent national matter," Berri said, noting that the Lebanese troops need to be armed from different sources.

"Several countries have offered to equip the army with weapons," he said, adding that the country will thwart all kinds of conspiracies against it.
