In his weekly editorial published in the PSP - affiliated al-Anbaa website, MP Jumblatt pointed out that the majority of Syrians in Lebanon left their country to escape death.
In this regard, MP Jumblatt called on Interior Minister Nouhad Mashnouq and General Security Chief Major General Abbas Ibrahim to take into consideration the conditions that urged these citizens to leave Syria, stressing that regulating the influx of refugees into Lebanon is a sensitive and difficult dossier.
“Do we have to remind certain factions that Syrian nationals received the Lebanese people during the July 2006 war? What the Syrians are going through today is much more treacherous than the Israeli aggression of 2006.”
On another note, MP Jumblatt said the situation in Arsal is the result of the overlapping Lebanese-Syrian conflicts, calling on all Lebanese factions to respect mediators who are putting forth their efforts to secure the release of the abducted soldiers.
