The Lebanese army and United Nations peacekeepers carried out on Wednesday patrols along the Blue Line for the third day in a row following a fatal Israeli raid that took place over the weekend in Syria, leaving six Hezbollah members dead.
The state-run National News Agency reported that calm prevailed over the southern border region as the army and UNIFIL patrolled the region all along the technical fence.
The agency added that U.N. helicopters overflew the border region.
The activity on the Lebanese side of the border with Israel was faced with a total absence of routine Israeli patrols along the border between Kfarkila and Adaisseh, the agency added.
But Israel has gone on high alert for possible attacks by Lebanon’s armed party Hezbollah.
Hezbollah has accused Israel of carrying out Sunday's strike, which took place on the Syrian side of the Golan Heights in a region called Quneitra.
Among the dead in the airstrike was Jihad Mughniyeh, the son of Imad Mughniyeh — a top Hezbollah operative who was assassinated in a bombing in Syria’s Damascus in 2008.
In addition to the six Hezbollah members, an Iranian general was killed in the attack.
