UCC to stage sit-in Tuesday over long-delayed pay scale

The Union Coordination Committee (UCC) has called on workers, professors and all those who would benefit from the wage scale to participate in a sit-in scheduled for Tuesday at around 1 p.m.

In a statement, the committee said it will suspend teaching in public and private schools as well as other vocational and technical education institutions on Tuesday the 31st of March.

Work will also be suspended in ministries and public administrations, the committee said, adding that the sit-in will be held outside the UNESCO headquarters.

The Union Coordinating Committee has held continuous strike, for over three years, calling on the authorities to pass the pay scale, which stipulates a wage hike. No concrete measures have been implemented thus far.
