Future bloc head Siniora underscores need to back moderation, end power vacuum

Future bloc head Fouad Siniora stressed on Monday the need to end the current presidential vacuum "so as to spare Lebanon the deteriorating situation in the region."

“The presidential election issue concerns all Arabs, not only the Lebanese,” Siniora said following his meeting with Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Beshara Boutros al-Rai in Bkerke.

“A powerful head of state is one who is capable of uniting the people,” Siniora said, adding “several challenges loom ahead and we should back moderation on the local and regional levels”.

Turning to Lebanon’s relation with Iran, Future bloc head Siniora said “we don’t want to become enemies but we reject Iran's regional hegemony”.
