STL hears testimony of MP Atef Majdalani

The Special Tribunal for Lebanon heard on Tuesday the testimony of MP Atef Majdalani, who said that the Syrians practiced a policy of hostility toward late former PM Rafik Hariri since 1991, and were "forced into accepting him as Prime Minister.

“The Syrians supplied Hezbollah with weapons in order to bolster its capabilities and ruling power in the country more so than the Lebanese army,” he added.

The Special Tribunal for Lebanon was set up by the United Nations at the Lebanese government's request to try the alleged perpetrators of the 2005 bombing in which former Lebanese PM Hariri and 21 others were killed.
