Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Beshara Boutros Rai met Tuesday with French President Francois Hollande at his presidential residence at the Elysee Palace.
Following the meeting that lasted around 50 minutes, Patriarch Rai left without making any statement.
Well-informed sources said that Hollande expressed France’s commitment to Lebanon's help in ending the president void, adding that discussions also tackled the situation pertaining to the presence of Christians in the Middle East and the need to protect the concept of coexistence.
Rai arrived in France on Saturday in a visit aimed at holding meetings with senior officials.
On Sunday, he delivered his holy sermon at Paris' Our Lady of Lebanon church, during which he stressed the need to end the presidential vacuum in Lebanon, condemning the deputies' failure to attend the parliament's electoral sessions.
