Jumblatt: I will not propose an initiative

Head of the Progressive Socialist Party MP Walid Jumblatt denied Thursday reports stating that he will launch an initiative regarding the Lebanese Armed Forces Command.

Via his Twitter account, Jumblatt recalled that “he has already presented a balanced proposal aiming at avoiding institutional paralysis, but was rejected by senior officials.”

In the same context, MP Jumblatt said that “Lebanon has become surrounded by fire,” adding that “there are no positive signs on the horizon indicating that the election of a new president will happen any time soon.”

He also lamented the decision taken by some parties "to enter a state of partial or complete paralysis due to their narrow calculations and decisions.”

Jumblatt noted that “the constant debates between officials will not allow any legislation to take place,” stressing that the most important project at hand is the ratification of a treaty with the World Bank.
