“It is sorrowful and painful to see Lebanon deviating from its role as a nation of coexistence, and equality between Muslims and Christians,” Rai said at the opening of the annual retreat of the Synod of Maronite Bishops.
Regarding the presidential elections, Rai stressed that 14 months have passed and officials are still hindering the election of a new president, pointing out that this matter will paralyze the work of the parliament and the cabinet.
In this regard, Patriarch Rai called on all political leaders to return to their conscience and realize the harm they are posing on Lebanon.
