Labor Minister Sejaan Azzi stated on Saturday that the work mechanism of the cabinet neither means absolute consensus nor does it mean hindering the work of the cabinet, pointing out that Prime Minister Tammam Salam called for reconsidering this mechanism since the work of the cabinet may not be linked to the approval of 24 ministers.
In this regard, Minister Azzi told LBCI’s Nharkom Said that 1,800 decrees were passed in accordance with the previous work mechanism, adding that the cabinet’s work may not be hindered if one of the ministers opposed a certain proposal.
Azzi also stated that PM Salam did not pass any draft law without the approval of two-thirds of the ministers, stressing that the latter is keen on consensus among ministers.
