General Security arrests one Lebanese, one Syrian on terror related charges
The General Security Department announced Friday that it arrested a Lebanese and a Syrian suspected of belonging to terrorist groups.

General Security has arrested a Lebanese national who belongs to the groups of terrorists Osama Mansour and Shadi al-Mawlawi, said a communiqué.

Mansour was shot dead by security forces in the northern city of Tripoli last April while al-Mawlawi remains at large.

The communiqué said the suspect has coordinated with another Lebanese national who was plotting to carry out a suicide bombing in Lebanon, and to smuggle an official of the Islamic State group from the outskirts of the border town of Arsal.

The communiqué also noted that the General Security apprehended a Syrian national who is suspected of belonging to the al-Qaeda-linked al-Nusra Front, recruiting people, and smuggling funds and fighters into Syria.

The arrestees have been referred to the concerned judiciary, the communiqué concluded by saying.
