Hariri condemns world’s silence against Israeli aggression at al-Aqsa Mosque
Future Movement leader MP Saad Hariri, condemned in a tweet on Monday the world's silence in face of Israeli aggression at the Al Aqsa Mosque, dubbing such silence as a collaboration with the Jewish state in its crimes against the Palestinian people.

Hariri also called for a clear stance from major powers, institutions of the international community and UN bodies towards this "persistent crime."

"Has the silence towards Israel's actions become the other face to the silence towards the tragedy of the Syrian people?" he added.

He noted that deterring Israel could not happen by calls for self-control. He urged Arab countries to shoulder their responsibility.

"Solidarity with the Palestinian people is a national duty and the responsibility of all Arabs without any exception," he concluded by saying.

Israeli police briefly clashed with Palestinian protesters at Jerusalem's most sensitive holy site early Sunday, raising tensions in the holy city ahead of the Jewish New Year.

Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said forces moved into the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound at around 7 a.m. Sunday after police received reports that protesters were planning to disrupt visits to the area by Jewish worshipers and tourists.

There were no reports of arrests or injuries. The site was closed for three hours during the standoff but then re-opened for visitors.
