Popular bloc calls on mourners to refrain from gun salutes during funeral service of Former Zahle MP Elias Skaff
The popular bloc issued on Monday a statement whereby it called upon all the relatives, supporters and friends of deceased Former Zahle MP Elias Skaff not to open fire during the funeral ceremony.

It also called on the mourners to respect the security measures in order to preserve public safety.

Former Zahle MP Elias Skaff passed away on Saturday (October 10) after a long battle with illness. He was set to turn 67 on Sunday.

He was elected as leader of the Popular Bloc in Parliament in 1992, and reelected in 1996, 2000 and 2005.

He was appointed as Industry Minister in 2003, then as Agriculture Minister in 2004-2005, and then held the same portfolio in 2008.

He is survived by his wife, Myriam Gebran Tawq, and their two children, Joseph and Gebran.
