Truck drivers suspended their protest on Tuesday after authorities promised them to meet their demands.
Head of the Truckers’ Association Chafik Kassisa announced that the governor of Mount Lebanon vowed to renew the drivers’ old permits.
This as Kassisa threatened to take escalatory steps if the governor does not keep his promises.
Truck drivers held on Monday (October 9) a protest on the Nahr al-Kalb highway in a bid to put pressure on the administrative authorities, which have been preventing them from extracting sand and gravel from Kesrouan quarries.
Meanwhile, more than 35 drivers parked their trucks on the side of the Jounieh-Beirut road, resulting in a suffocating traffic jam.
