Introduction to the evening news 13-03-2012

It is enough for any observer to count all the due dates, both on the domestic and international scenes, to realize the severity of this phase: internally, tomorrow marks the March 14 anniversary and all eyes are on Biel to find out the limits of the political speeches knowing that the speakers are not expected to be from the front row.       

Next Friday marks the commemoration of MP Kamal Jumblatt’s assassination, and this time all eyes are on Mukhtara’s leader Walid Jumblatt even if sources said that he won’t deliver a speech for the occasion. But the most important thing would be the crowd and the quality of the audience.          

As for the financial and livelihood due dates, the ball of the rotten foodstuffs is rolling and growing only to settle tomorrow at the Grand Serail in a meeting headed by PM Mikati to discuss this file that is affecting more than one region.          

Financially, LBCI knew that the legal formula submitted by the Change and Reform bloc to the prime minister on the issue of billions was agreed upon; but given that the balance sheet breakthrough requires some time, putting this issue on the table of the Parliament’s general session may be postponed, unless the Ministry of Finance manages to complete the balance sheet before Thursday.         

On the international scene, Syria will celebrate the first anniversary of the Syrian uprising amid a multifaceted deadlock: the deadlock of the regime that could not settle the crisis and the deadlock of the opposition that is not urging the international community to intervene.          

In a world overflowing with diplomacy and lacking field actions, the international community continues to play the role of the spectator.           

All these issues deserve priority, but the most important one is the citizen’s concern over the hysterical rotten foodstuff hubbub.
