Interior Minister Mashnouq: There is serious progress in discussions over presidential bid

Interior Minister Nouhad Mashnouq said on Wednesday that there is serious progress in the discussions over the election of a new president, adding however that things still need further consultations.

The minister also noted that major representative forces that have not voiced their stances yet, such as the Lebanese Forces, the Free Patriotic Movement and maybe other parties.

Mashnouq’s comments were made during a TV interview whereby he stressed that a crisis that has been running for a year and a half” will not end “within days or weeks.”
