Introduction to the evening news 02-04-2012
In the wake of the Friends of Syria conference in Turkey, U.N.-Arab League Kofi Annan addressed the U.N. Security Council revealing that Damascus has accepted an April 10 deadline for implementing his peace plan.

But what will be the opposition’s reaction to this deadline? In less than ten days, we will know if the Syrian crisis is on the right track to be solved. Or will all parties be holding their breath this week?

In Lebanon, everyone is talking about electricity and elections; the electricity file found its way back to the committee headed by PM Mikati in a bid to lower the prices of electricity-generating ships. Meanwhile, the draft electoral law went back to the forefront after the proportionality law project seemed to be far off.

Parliamentary, it seems that House Speaker Nabih Berri will give momentum back to the Parliament directly after the Easter holidays; he actually called for a plenary session to be held on the 17th, 18th and 19th of this month.
