Mikati to Sarkozy: We are committed to international resolutions, UNSCR 1701

PM Najib Mikati said Thursday during the international conference on Libya, held in Paris, that Lebanon is proud to be among the founding states of the U.N. Charter, reiterating Lebanon’s commitment to international resolutions, 1701 in particular, and to strengthen cooperation between the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) and UNIFIL.

Mikati also decried the recent attack against U.N. French peacekeepers, adding that the French contribution to UNIFIL reflects special ties between the two countries that reaffirm France’s unyielding support for Lebanon.

Mikati also extended his thanks to France for its continued support of the LAF. Three French soldiers serving with the U.N. peacekeeping force in Lebanon were wounded last July in a roadside bomb attack in the southern city of Sidon.
