Geagea: They will try to assassinate me again…Aoun’s ministers’ corrupt

Head of the Lebanese Forces Samir Geagea revealed that there have been no developments in the investigation into his assassination attempt. He added that he has full confidence in the security apparatus and said that finding out who was behind his assassination attempt is imperative seemingly since the unknown perpetrators would try again. Geagea stated that they will be as unsuccessful as they had been in their first attempt, adding that he will leave them no gaps this time.       

In regards to the situation of the Lebanese Christians, in light of the current Syrian crisis, Geagea said, that when the Syrian crisis ends, it will open the path to more freedom and democracy, partially or entirely. “This in turn will reflect favorably on the Christian community in Lebanon” Geagea said to the Lebanese Daily “The Daily Star”.       

As for the Christians in Syria in light of an alternative rule to that of Asaad, Geagea said, that it is of no relevance what kind of rule succeeds. "What matters is its agenda and content rather than whether it was a Sunni rule or not", he added.               

Commenting on the 2013 parliamentary elections, Geagea called on all neutral and independent voters to choose the Lebanese Forces rather than the Free Patriotic Movement. In his words, Geagea stated that the FPM ministers have proven to be among the most corrupt of ministers in the history of Lebanon, adding that their slogan of “change and reform” is nothing but an empty promise.
